BCPD Chief Mike Halphen Comments on Oct. 2nd Officer Involved Shooting: Recorded by Tom Pace 10-7-09Posted by: Tom Pace - October 07, 2009According to Bossier City Police Chief Mike Halphen, “You’ve just killed Jesus Christ,” were the last words uttered before 42 year-old Scott Gray died from five bullets fired by Bossier City Police Officer Kary Szyska, while trying to save his partner’s life, last Friday, October 2nd. The veteran officer’s lethal force was justified, given the facts of the police department’s investigation, said Chief Halphen, during an afternoon news conference Wednesday, October 7th, 2009. Halphen said that one witness reported that Gray had Bossier Police Sgt. Todd Hylbert down on the ground and was, “Beating him (the officer) like Mike Tyson.” Officer Hilbert survived, suffering a swollen face and other injuries from the beating by Gray. The complete audio from that 17-minute news conference by Chief Halphen was recorded for this podcast by Tom Pace, Executive Editor of “The Talk of the Town” at www.ShreveTalk.com.
