Bossier Mayor "Lo" Walker confirmed rumors that the city is facing a $6.5 million deficit for the 2010 budget. Friday morning, October 16t. The podcast audio of Walker's news conference was recorded by Tom Pace, Executive Editor of the "Talk of the Town."
During Mayor Walker's news conference, he outlined his proposed budget-cutting measures, that includes laying-off some 117 personnel (29 positions are already vacant) which means a total of 88 city employees' jobs will be eliminated January 1, 2010 if the budget passes.
Under the 2010 budget proposal, 28 Bossier City Police officers and 36 Bossier firefighters would lose their jobs.
